A fine tribute to Jochi Kleint

Tanja Zingelmann-Hartjen was a keen rally co-driver in the 1980s and 1990s, and has now passed this passion on to one of her sons, Corbian, with whom she competed in last year’s Eifel Rally Festival in a VW Golf.

In preparation for this season, Tanja and her team are putting the finishing touches to their new car, a beautiful Group 4 Ford Escort Mk1 RS1600, which is an exact replica of one of the very first cars driven by a driver who left his mark on the history of German rallying, Jochi Kleint.

In a similar Mk1 from Ford Boreham, with minimalist decoration, the future European Champion (in 1979) Jochi Kleint and Jochen Berger distinguished themselves during the Int. Rallye Vorderpfalz in 1971. That same year, this factory Escort was also driven by Roger Clark himself.

Een mooi eerbetoon aan Jochi Kleint

Tanja Zingelmann-Hartjen was een fervente copiloot in de jaren 1980 en 1990 en heeft deze passie nu doorgegeven aan een van haar zonen, Corbian, met wie ze vorig jaar deelnam aan het Eifel Rally Festival in een VW Golf.

Ter voorbereiding op dit seizoen leggen Tanja en haar team de laatste hand aan hun nieuwe auto, een prachtige Groep 4 Ford Escort Mk1 RS1600, die een exacte replica is van een van de allereerste auto’s waarin werd gereden door een coureur die zijn stempel heeft gedrukt op de geschiedenis van de Duitse rallysport, Jochi Kleint.

In een soortgelijke Mk1 van Ford Boreham, met minimalistische decoratie, onderscheidden de toekomstige Europees Kampioen (in 1979) Jochi Kleint en Jochen Berger zich tijdens de Int. Rallye Vorderpfalz in 1971. In datzelfde jaar werd deze fabrieks-Escort ook bestuurd door Roger Clark himself.

Bel hommage à Jochi Kleint

Ayant assidument pratiqué le rallye dans les années 1980 et 1990, Tanja Zingelmann-Hartjen a transmis cette passion à l’un de ses fils, Corbian, avec qui elle avait déjà disputé l’an dernier l’Eifel Rallye Festival sur une VW Golf.

En vue de cette saison, Tanja et son équipe mettent la dernière main à la pâte de leur nouvelle monture, une très belle Ford Escort Mk1 RS1600 Groupe 4 qui est la réplique exacte de l’une des toutes premières voitures d’un pilote ayant marqué l’histoire du rallye allemand, Jochi Kleint.

Sur une Mk1 similaire en provenance directe de Ford Boreham, à la déco minimaliste, le futur Champion d’Europe (en 1979) Jochi Kleint et Jochen Berger se distinguaient lors du Int. Rallye Vorderpfalz 1971. La même année, cette Escort d’usine était aussi confiée à Roger Clark himself.

Everett en zijn legendarische Chevette!

Tijdens het BK Rally 1982 schitterden Simon Everett en Dany Colebunders met hun Groep 4 Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HSR in de kleuren van Tuborg.

De Britse coureur was altijd spectaculair en was duidelijk een van de favoriete coureurs van het publiek, naast Belgische sterren uit die tijd zoals Guy Colsoul, Robert Droogmans, Marc Duez, Jean-Louis Dumont, Didi en Patrick Snijers.

Dankzij Ronald Jussiant en Séverine Chupin, die ook van glijden houden, kan het publiek van Rally 4 Passion zich Simon Everett herinneren in deze prachtige replica, die zelfs rechtsgestuurd is!

Everett and his legendary Chevette!

During the 1982 Belgian Rally Championship, Simon Everett and Dany Colebunders drove their Group 4 Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HSR in the colours of Tuborg.

Always spectacular, the British driver was clearly one of the public’s favourite drivers, alongside Belgian stars of the era such as Guy Colsoul, Robert Droogmans, Marc Duez, Jean-Louis Dumont, Didi and Patrick Snijers.

Thanks to Ronald Jussiant and Séverine Chupin, who also love to go sideways, the Rally 4 Passion public will be able to remember Simon Everett in this superb replica, which even has right-hand drive!

En 1982, sur les épreuves du Championnat de Belgique des Rallyes, Simon Everett et Dany Colebunders faisaient virevolter dans tous les sens leur Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HSR Groupe 4 aux couleurs de Tuborg.

Toujours très spectaculaire, le pilote britannique était clairement l’un des pilotes préférés du public, aux côtés des stars belges de l’époque, comme Guy Colsoul, Robert Droogmans, Marc Duez, Jean-Louis Dumont, Didi ou Patrick Snijers.

Grâce à Ronald Jussiant et Séverine Chupin, qui aiment aussi beaucoup la glisse, le public du Rally 4 Passion pourra se souvenir de Simon Everett sur cette superbe réplique, qui est même dotée d’une conduite à droite !

Michèle Mouton and the Audi Quattro Gr.4 in the spotlight

Before becoming one of the first Gr.B cars to be homologated, the Audi Quattro A1 spent two seasons competing in the World Rally Championship. Michèle Mouton was one of the drivers to shine at its wheel.

Now an FIA figurehead, the Frenchwoman distinguished herself in particular during her world campaign in 1982 with an official Quattro fitted with Kleber tyres. She finished runner-up in the World Championship with 3 victories to her name (Portugal, Acropolis and Brazil).

Owned by Benoît Martin, who will also be taking part in Rally 4 Passion in his Quattro S1 E2, this Audi Quattro Gr.4 is a replica of Michèle Mouton’s car that year. On April 26 and 27, it will be in the capable hands of David and Agatha Kastler.

Voordat de Audi Quattro A1 een van de eerste gehomologeerde Gr.B-auto’s werd, reed hij twee seizoenen lang in het WK Rally. Michèle Mouton was een van de coureurs die achter het stuur schitterde.

De Française, nu een FIA-boegbeeld, onderscheidde zich tijdens haar wereldcampagne in 1982 met een officiële Quattro uitgerust met Kleber-banden. Ze eindigde als tweede in het wereldkampioenschap met 3 overwinningen op haar naam (Portugal, Akropolis en Brazilië).

Deze Audi Quattro Gr.4 is eigendom van Benoît Martin, die ook zal deelnemen aan Rally 4 Passion in zijn Quattro S1 E2, en is een replica van de auto van Michèle Mouton uit dat jaar. Op 26 en 27 april is hij in de bekwame handen van David en Agatha Kastler.

Avant de devenir l’une des premières Gr.B homologuées, l’Audi Quattro A1 a animé durant deux saisons les épreuves du Championnat du Monde des Rallyes. Parmi les pilotes se mettant en évidence à son volant, on retrouvait notamment Michèle Mouton.

Aujourd’hui figure de proue de la FIA, la Française se distinguait notamment lors de sa campagne mondiale en 1982 avec une Quattro officielle chaussée de pneus Kleber. Elle terminait vice-Championne du Monde avec 3 victoires à son actif (Portugal, Acropole et Brésil).

Propriété de Benoît Martin, également présent au Rally 4 Passion sur sa Quattro S1 E2, cette Audi Quattro Gr.4 est une réplique de la monture de Michèle Mouton cette année-là. Ces 26 et 27 avril, elle sera confiée aux mains expertes de David et Agatha Kastler.

Demuth-Lux: a German-Belgian duo in an Audi Quattro Gr.B

In 1984, Willy Lux began a partnership with the German driver that was to last two seasons in an Audi Quattro Gr.B run by Konrad Schmidt’s team.

Restored for the first time in 2012 by German John Thomas, this Audi Quattro A2 Gr.B for a time sported a Rothmans livery in reference to the car owned by Dutchman John Bosch.

In 2019, after a new rebuild, its owner chose to give it another livery, in this case that of Harald Demuth’s car in the German Rally Championship during the 1983 season. Just before the start of the collaboration between Demuth and Lux.
