It’s a car that has left its mark on the history of the Rallye de Wallonie that will be at the start of this first edition of the Rally4Passion – Huy-Namur Rallye Festival.
Although it no longer sports its historic colours, this Toyota Corolla WRC is in fact the original car (K-AM 607, chassis #629) which Pieter Tsjoen won on the Rallye de Wallonie in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
It began its WRC career in the hands of Carlos Sainz, before being driven by the late Rocco Theunissen. Since 2006, it has been owned by Bertrand Pierrat from the Vosges, who will be delighted to bring it back to Belgium for Rally4Passion!

Elle avait entamé sa carrière aux mains de Carlos Sainz en WRC, avant d’être pilotée notamment par le regretté Rocco Theunissen. Depuis 2006, elle est la propriété du Vosgien Bertrand Pierrat, qui nous fera ainsi le grand plaisir de la faire revenir en Belgique à l’occasion du Rally4Passion !

Together with Nicolas Gilsoul, I had a program in the European Championship for Kronos and Citroën. We started the season with a Saxo S1600, before switching to the C2. In Namur, we got involved in a sketch that made quite a few people laugh, as we were disqualified for being too light! In Ypres, we received confirmation that the RACB scales were not quite right…
Eifel Rallye Festival, Alsace… You’re almost a stalwart of these types of events.
I recently took part in a festival in Austria with Wolf-Dieter Ihle. He suggested I drive one of the cars from his collection, an ex-Mikkola Audi 200 Quattro Gr.A. I love the atmosphere of such events. There are no worries. In case of mechanical problems, you can take your time to carry out the repairs. Every enthusiast wants to attend. The atmosphere is excellent. I think it’s fantastic!
This weekend, your Cosworth Gr. A is a replica of your car from the 1994 Sanremo. That was your first season as a factory driver with a 4×4 in the world championship.
My first season with a 4×4. We were fortunate to have the exact same car as Delecour and Biasion, a car built by RAS in Boreham. Wonderful memories. It was a very virile car, a beast. For a young lad, it was the Holy Grail! Just like for Grégoire Munster and his official Ford Rally1.

Samen met Nicolas Gilsoul werkte ik toen voor Kronos en Citroën een programma in het Europese kampioenschap af. We startten aan het seizoen met een Saxo S1600, vooraleer over te stappen naar de C2. In Namen raakten we betrokken bij een sketch die nogal wat mensen deed lachen, want we werden gediskwalificeerd omdat we te licht waren! In Ieper kregen we de bevestiging dat de weegschaal van de RACB niet helemaal op punt stond…

Ik nam met Wolf-Dieter Ihle recent nog deel aan een Festival in Oostenrijk. Hij stelde me voor om met één van de wagens uit zijn collectie te rijden, een ex-Mikkola Audi 200 Quattro Gr.A. Ik ben gek op de sfeer van zo een evenementen. Niemand maakt zich zorgen. Bij mechanische problemen mag je je tijd nemen om de herstellingen uit te voeren. Elke liefhebber wil er bij zijn. De sfeer is er uitstekend. Echt, ik vind het fantastisch!
Dit weekend is je Cosworth Gr.A een replica van je auto uit de Sanremo van 1994. Dat was je eerste seizoen als fabrieksrijder met een 4×4 in het wereldkampioenschap.
Mijn eerste seizoen met een 4×4. We hadden het geluk dat we over exact dezelfde auto konden beschikken als Delecour en Biasion, een wagen die door RAS in Boreham was gebouwd. Schitterende herinneringen zijn dat. Het was een heel viriele auto, een beest. Voor een jonge gast was dat de Heilige Graal! Net zoals voor Grégoire Munster en zijn officiële Rally1 bij Ford.

J’ai encore récemment participé à un Festival en Autriche avec Wolf-Dieter Ihle, qui m’a proposé de piloter l’une des voitures de sa collection, une Audi 200 Quattro Gr.A ex-Mikkola. J’adore l’ambiance de ces événements. On ne se prend pas la tête. En cas de souci mécanique, on peut prendre le temps de réparer. Ce sont vraiment des rendez-vous de passionnés. L’ambiance est bon enfant. Franchement, j’adore !
Ce week-end, ta Cosworth Gr.A est une réplique de ta voiture de 1994, au Sanremo. Ta première saison en tant que pilote officiel avec une 4×4 en Championnat du Monde.
Ma première saison en 4 roues motrices. Nous avions la chance d’avoir exactement la même voiture que Delecour et Biasion, une voiture montée par RAS à Boreham. Un excellent souvenir. La voiture était virile et bestiale. Pour un jeune, c’était le saint-Graal ! Comme pour Grégoire Munster avec sa Rally1 officielle chez Ford.

That year, Chatriot finished runner-up in the French Championship in his official car in Diac livery, and also took second place in the Tour of Corsica.
